What to Wear: Fall Edition

Does this sound familiar? You book a fall photo session and you're really excited to capture some family memories where everyone is perfectly dressed and looking adorable. And then the panic sets in! How do I put together outfits for multiple people, that all coordinate, but aren't too matchy-matchy?! You are not alone and that is the biggest follow up question we get. We've put together some collages of clients over the last two years to show you how they did it!

Colors:

We usually tell people to pick two or three colors and stay within those hues. Some choose neutrals and go mainly in off-white and gray with small splashes of color thrown in. And some go brighter, more lively colors. And it all looks amazing!!

Prints and Patterns:

Pattern mixing is awesome, so long as not everyone in your family has on stripes or plaid. The bigger the pattern, the better, so it's less busy.

Layers:

Layers are amazing and help add depth and warmth and to give the idea that it's really fall ... even though in Virginia, it can be 75 degrees in mid October! Think about adding in a vest, scarf, headband, or a sweater over a button up shirt to add some layers. You can always take off the vest or scarf and have a different look in some of the photos.

Jewelry and Make Up:

Jewelry helps to add some visual interest so a long, layered necklace or some cute earrings would be a statement piece. If you have something sentimental, definitely wear it!! Make up is tricky because it shows up less in photos so you will want to wear a little bit more than you would in your day-to-day routine.

I hope those examples and tips will help ease your mind. If not, we are here to answer any questions you might have. If you want to message me on Facebook with your outfit ideas all laid out, believe me when I say that you won't be the only one and I am happy to offer help and opinions wherever I can!

We can't wait to see your families this year!! Think chilly thoughts!
